Your pretty nails give you instant beauty credibility with minimal effort. Learn some quick tips here.

Well-groomed hands tell the world you take care of yourself and portray a sense of competence. It's hard to say that about a woman (or man) with chewed nails and tortured cuticles. How to achieve this enviable state? It's not difficult and, with some small initial effort, is easily maintained.

If your hands are a wreck, you may want to start by indulging in a professional manicure, or take the time to give yourself a thorough one at home. Whether you opt for real or acrylic nails is a matter of personal preference, but I much prefer the natural style.

If you do choose the purchased route, keep it simple and understated. Short dark nails are popular now, but may not be what you're most comfortable with. The lighter the polish, the easier the maintenance. A medium length with light pink or sheer white polish is flattering and simple to keep looking fresh.

If you can, get in the habit of topping your manicure with a daily dose of clear top coat. Your nails will grow long and strong, and polish chipping will be minimal. Also, keep hand lotion everywhere -- in your purse, your desk drawer, your night stand, your car. Start applying regularly until it becomes second nature.

Your hands will feel and look better, and your cuticles will benefit from the moisture. Beautiful hands will give you beauty confidence even on days when you haven't had time to do much else, and that is a good return for very little investment.
