Bride of Frankenstein is a great costume for Halloween because it is scary and sexy all at the same time. The Bride of Frankenstein costume is a relatively easy costume as well. Most of the items needed could be found at home or an inexpensive trip to a thrift shop. The only important asset that makes this costume difficult but is a must is the hair.
This costume will work for any girl in the family from young child to an adult.
The Costume
- For the little girl that wants to bring scares on Halloween night, an old white dress found at a thrift store or yard sale that can easily be tattered and torn. An old wedding dress would be preferred but it may be hard to find one depending on the size of the child. White dress flats or ballerina shoes would work best with this costume, because they're functional as well as appropriate for the child and the costume.
- For a scary adult costume, use an old wedding dress that can easily be found at a thrift store or yard sale for an inexpensive price.
- For a sexy adult costume, wear a white torn miniskirt and a white torn up, low-cut shirt. There is a great sexy bride of Frankenstein costume available through www.buycostumes.com. It resembles an old wedding dress torn off in pieces. Sexy high heel shoes complete this outfit.
Makeup for the Young Girl Bride of Frankenstein
Supplies needed:
- White face paints
- Black eyeliner
- Matte eye shadows in brown and purple
- Red lipstick
- Sponges
- Fine makeup brush
Makeup Application:
- Pull back hair from face.
- Apply the white face paint all over your face. Sponge over the mouth, eyelids and eyebrows.
- Using the black eyeliner, draw on thin high arched eyebrows
- With the matte eye shadows, make featherlike strokes under the eyes with the brown eye shadow and then a touch of the purple eye shadow to create a sunken eye effect.
- Add red lipstick as the last touch for thin, no-expression lips
Makeup for the Adult Bride of Frankenstein
Supplies needed:
- Black eyeliner
- White face paint
- False eyelashes and the supplies needed for application
- Red lipstick
- Sponges
- Fine makeup brush
Makeup Application:
- Pull back hair from face.
- Apply white face paint all over your face. Sponge over the mouth, eyelids and eyebrows.
- Using black eyeliner, line your eyes, top and bottom; draw thin harsh eyebrows, angled up.
- Apply long false eyelashes.
- Create a full mouth with the red lipstick and makeup brush.
The Hair
The main accessory to this costume is the hair. The easiest way would be to purchase a Bride of Frankenstein hairpiece from a Halloween shop or online outlet. Otherwise, get creative with the hairspray and spray-on colour, or even build a pretend wig out of papier-mache.
