Christina Storm Shares Her Beauty Secrets
International Model and Actress Gives Advice on Looking Stunning
Christina Storm's introduction into the glamorous world of modelling resembles similarities to many supermodels who were recruited at a young age because of their dazzling good looks.
About a decade and a half ago an 18-year-old Storm was discovered in the streets of Holland by a model scout whose instincts were evidently spot-on. Since then she has travelled the world and showcased her beauty on the runway, in print as well as on television.
In addition, she has successfully managed to cross the coveted bridge between modelling and acting when she adopted the role of Bienkie in one of South Africa's most popular soap operas, Egoli.
She is also the dynamic entrepeneur of a boutique agency called Hail Mary Productions and she is the proud mother of five-year-old, Ruby.
What is your definition of beauty?
"Confidence, the way a person carries and expresses themselves, wisdom, kindness and energy."
How do you maintain your slim figure?
"I have a five year-old daughter, she keeps me on my toes, I also work in the garden and I am active most of the day, so that's my gym."
What do you consider to be your most indispensable beauty tool?
"Tweezers, I'm obsessed with eyebrows."
As an international model you are well-travelled. What beauty secrets have you adopted from other cultures, if any?
"The most important beauty secret is to be happy and to create your own happiness - that will keep you young for the rest of your life. You can see who's had a good life and who's been miserable on people's faces as they age."
Who embodies the essence of beauty to you and why?
"Brigitte Bardot. She lives her life the way she wants to, not abiding by other people's rules."
Have you ever suffered from cellulite and if so how do you treat it?
"Yes, especially if I've been drinking a lot of alcohol and smoking - living badly, then it gets worse. I think eating healthy and drinking water, can combat it."
Why do you think your breasts stayed so beautiful even after pregnancy?
"They didn't, I breastfed for 14 months."
What is your favourite make-up item?
"Red Christian Dior lipstick."
Which international fashion designer inspires you and why?
"Valentino. He knows women, his dresses are insane! Nobody can touch him."
What advice can you give to women who want to become more stylish?
"Don't follow trends, create your own style. Please don't cut your hair short like all the Afrikaans ladies over 50, it sucks."
Name some of your favourite clothing stores.
"I shop anywhere, even Pep Stores. It's about finding the right item, not the label."
What/where has been your favourite fashion shoot and why?
"There are way too many to single one out."
When do you feel most beautiful?
"When my child tells me I look pretty."
Describe your fashion style?
"Rock 'n Roll. Worn-out t's and dirty leathers always work for me."
Which brand of shoes do you find most beautiful and comfortable?
"Once again, not about the label, but the higher the heel, the better."
Do you use botox or would you consider using botox?
"Yes, I would consider it."
How do you fight wrinkles?
"O'Boticario eye cream, nano serum and moisturiser."
What do you think is the secret of staying young?
"Being happy!"
This might be a worn-out cliché but is seems as if beauty truly does come from within. Therefore, wear your smile as your most essential beauty accessory and as Storm advises exude happiness in order to become more beautiful.
This notion is echoed by the Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran who said: "Beauty is not in the face, beauty is a light in the heart."
