Women Body Shapes, such as the Linear Body Shape, can appear more feminine with the appropriate style and correct fit in clothes.

Forty six percent of women fit in the linear or column body shape, meaning they have very little to no definition in the waist. If thin, this body type is the ultimate model shape. The clothes hang better on the body without interrupting the line or design of the clothes. However, finding clothes that fit perfectly can be difficult.

With this body type it can be difficult to feel feminine due to the lack of curves. Since the bust, waist, and hip measurement are the same or close to the same, clothes can tend to look more masculine

Clothes to Avoid:

Due to a lack of waist and having very little curves it is important to stay away from clothes that look too boyish. This could include certain styles of clothes as well as the obvious like track suits and other athletic apparel.

Avoid clothing that has zero shape to it. Any type of a box shape or baggy clothes will accentuate the lack of curves that is underneath.

Wardrobe Tips:

  • First start off with a padded bra. A padded bra will add more curves and will help give a definition to the waist.
  • Feel free to accessorize the outfit to the extreme. Any type of accessory (ruffles, frills, lace, pleats, bows, and etc) will help add femininity and volume to the body.
  • Movement is important to the wardrobe for a linear body shape. Fabrics that flow and create movement will help add volume and accentuate curves. Prints and pieces should be flirty and feminine.
  • Create a waist by using a sash or belt around the waist. This will help draw the eye in as well as help define the waist since there is not a natural definition. A shirt with ruffles at the top and the bottom with a cinched in waist will really help define the waist even more.
  • Add volume to the hips. An easy way to add volume to the hips is with an A-line skirt or pleated skirt. Skirts are a great way to add more width to the hips. Linear body shapes are also one of the few body types that benefit from a high-waist pant or a skinny jean. A tapered leg works well since it will help make the hips look broader.
  • Wear feminine patterns. Just like accessories, wearing more feminine patterns will help add more femininity to a body that tends to look more masculine.
