Everyone loves treating themselves to a day of total indulgence at a day spa but those who are feeling the credit crunch may not be so willing to fork out for such luxuries anymore. Thankfully you can make your own spa products using the contents of your kitchen cubpboards at a farction of the price. And, they really work! Moisture Rescue Mask for Dry HairIf your hair is more stressed out and straw-like than sexy and silky, then don't despair. Grab an egg, a tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of honey, and mix it up in a bowl. Wash your damaged locks as usual and apply the mixture to towel dried hair as a conditioning treatment. Leave it on for 20 minutes and, for extra conditioning, wrap it all up in clingfilm. Rinse well with cool water (so as not to scramble the egg!) and style as normal. Volumising Treatment for Flat Dull Ha If your hair lacks volume and bounce, try this cheap trick to give it a lift. Shampoo hair as usual and rinse with clean water. Then, rinse hair with flat beer or stout such as Guinness. If you're worried about the lingering smell of the beer then rinse again with cold camomile tea to hide any remaining odour. Finall rinse well with cool water. The beer will help to strengthen hair and give it body. Dull Skin Facial Exfoliating TreatmentIf your skin looks dull and lifeless it's probably because it needs a good exfoliating treatment to remove the dead skin cells and promote skin cell renewal. Blend a quarter cup of almonds with a tablespoon of mayonaise to create your own, natural exfoliating treatment. Apply the mixture to clean skin and gently rub in circular movements with your finger tips all over your face. Rinse well and follow with toner and moisturiser. This treatment may make your skin temporarily a little red so ideally do it before bed. Dry Skin Moisture MaskIf your skin's feeling parched, this frozen honey and egg face mask will work wonders. Simply beat one egg until frothy and then add 1/2 cup of coconut oil and a tablespoon of honey and whisk until smooth. Then, place an empty toilet roll on end on a plate and spoon the mixture inside it and freeze overnight. Then just peel back the cardboard and smooth the frozen mask onto your face when you want to use it and put the rest back in the freezer. Leave the mask on for 5-10 mintues for soft, moisturised skin. Eye Mask for Puffy Tired EyesIf you're eyes feel gritty and tired then a little cucumber and aloe vera pick me up will work a treat and leave you looking fresh and rested. Blend 1/4 cucumber until pureed and then strain into a bowl until you have around 2 oz. Add a teaspoon full of the pulp to thicken the mixture and then add an ounce of aloe vera gel. Cleanse the face thoroughly and then sweep the cucumber mixture under the eye with a cotton ball for wide awake, revitalised eyes. Coffee Body BufferIf you want to look buffed and beautiful with glowing skin all over, a homemade body buffer is just the ticket. Mix two cups of coarsley ground coffee, 1/2 cup of sugar or sea salt and two or three tablespoons of massage oil. Shower as normal to moisten skin and then apply mixture all over with a sweeping circular motion. Always sweeping towards the heart will also help to improve circulation. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry before applying lotion all over to lock in moisture. All the spa treatments you need are right there in your home and cost a fraction of the price of a day spa. Using all-natural ingredients also means you know exactly what's going onto and therefore into your body.
