Oily skin can cause blemishes and a shiny face. With proper care, your oily skin can turn into an asset. Learn how to cleanse, moisturize and make up oily skin.
If you have oily skin, you probably envy all the normal-skin people in the world. While you fight blemishes, a shiny face and goopy makeup problems, everyone else just goes about in their perfect skin. I know because I’ve been an oily skin girl most of my life too. There is, however, an upside to having oily skin: your natural moisture will help you resist wrinkles, meaning you’ll age much more gently than your dry-skin friends. It’s a long-term reward, but at least there’s some benefit. Meanwhile, here’s how to cope with that shiny face.
Gently clean. Keep your skin cleansed, but don’t go overboard stripping it dry. A morning and before-bed routine with a cleanser made for oily skin should do it. Follow with toner and an oil-free or gel moisturizer.
Choose the right foundation. You’re not banned from using foundation just because you have oily skin, but you do have to choose carefully. Select an oil-free foundation, or look for a product formulated especially for oily skin.
Clean sleep. Don’t go to bed without washing your face…ever! Your friends might be able to abuse their skin without penalty, but you’re in a different league (remember the long-term benefits). I don’t care how tired, how lazy or how drunk you are, you must wash your face! Leave the eye makeup if you have to, but clean the makeup off your skin. You can’t afford any extra opportunity for clogged pores. Think how much better your pillow cases, not to mention you, will look in the morning.
Drink water. Learning to drink eight glasses of water a day is probably the most effective tool I’ve found for fighting blemishes. Keep your body hydrated, your skin flushed and clear with plain old water. Lots of it.
All right, girls, you’ve got the tools you need to cope with oily skin and still feel beautiful. Follow this plan and you can enjoy your skin now as well as look forward to a youthful looking face in your mature years. Thank me later.
