Staying at a resort for a few days while you get your beauty fix is a lot more fun than running in and out for a quick beauty treatment. Many trips are now designed for girlfriend escapes so you can take your best buddy along, or romantic packages where your significant other can get a massage right alongside you (not to mention a good back waxing or pedicure). Here's how to decide what package works for you.

Cost You can find a package starting at under $200 or spend thousands, depending on your budget and your desires. Package deals are the way to go. Some include room, transportation and a couple of services for much cheaper than the cost of paying for each part individually. You can always add on extra services once you arrive. Location If you've only got a couple of days, or limited funds, you may do best to stay close to home. With beauty packages in high demand now, you might be surprised to find that a local spa if offering just what you need.

You could avoid the hotel cost, or stay in one anyway and save on transportation. Don't think you need to travel far to enjoy the best experience. I have been surprised to find that some of the most luxurious packages were around the corner from me.

Other amenities You won't be beautifying 24/7, so consider other activities you may enjoy. Golf, shopping, gambling, nightlife and yoga are just a few options you could incorporate into your beauty weekend. After all, if you're going to look good, you may as well show off.

Types of service I've learned the hard way that the best place for a wax may not be the best shop to have your hair colored in. Do not assume price equates quality either. Focus on one or two services that are important to you, such as massage or hair, and check out user experience at that particular salon.

Mediocre hair color may not matter to you if the best reflexology foot massage is what you're really after. Online message boards are a great place to scope out opinions. Don't go far for a service you already love at home. That's like ordering Pasta Primavera in a restaurant when it's your best recipe. Seek out something special or unusual.
